This Cookie Policy explains how Madyo Limited uses cookies and similar technologies (like browser local storage) on madyomw.com. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes the broader picture of how we handle your personal data.
Our mobile apps do not use browser cookies; they store a small amount of information locally on your device for sign-in and preferences. The categories below describe both.
1. What cookies are
A “cookie” is a small text file that a website places on your device to remember information about your visit — things like whether you're signed in, what language you prefer, or which features you've used. Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies); others are set by services we rely on (third-party cookies).
We also use local storage and session storage in your browser, which serve similar purposes but are not strictly cookies. We treat them the same way in this Policy.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work. They keep you signed in, remember items you've added to your cart, and protect against fraud and abuse. You cannot opt out of these without breaking core functionality.
Preferences
These remember your choices — for example, your last delivery address, your preferred restaurant filters, or whether you have dismissed an in-app banner. They make the site nicer to use.
Analytics
These help us understand how the site is being used so we can improve it: which pages are popular, which features cause people to drop off, which parts of the apps need work. Where we use a third-party analytics provider, we configure it to anonymise IP addresses and respect opt-out signals like “Do Not Track”.
Marketing
We do not currently use third-party advertising or remarketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy and ask for your consent first.
3. Third parties
A small number of services we rely on may set their own cookies or storage on your device when you use Madyo. They are responsible for handling that data under their own policies. These include providers of:
- Sign-in and account security;
- Payment processing (when you choose mobile money or card);
- Mapping (for the delivery-location picker);
- Error monitoring and performance diagnostics.
We pick partners that comply with internationally recognised data-protection standards and bind them to written agreements requiring the same of them.
4. Managing cookies
You have a few different ways to control cookies on Madyo:
- Browser settings.Every modern browser lets you view, restrict, or delete the cookies stored on your device. Look in your browser's settings under “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data”. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and cart functionality.
- In-app controls. Where we offer toggles for analytics or optional features, they appear in the account settings inside the apps.
- Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we honour it for our own analytics.
5. Changes to this Policy
When we change the cookies we use, we will update this Policy and the “Last updated” date. If the change is material, we will surface it in the app or by email.
